How to sit correctly in a chair

Sitting correctly in the Connubia Calligaris Chairs  that you have at home, or your office chair, might sound like an incredibly easy thing to do. But, with more and more of us sitting for long periods during the day, sitting correctly can actually help to alleviate pressure on your back, neck and shoulders.

Firstly, you should ensure that you sit all the way back in the seat. This will help to prevent you from slouching as the day passes, and it will also support your lower back and lumbar region. This is often a place where people notice tension starting to creep in.

Once you are situated correctly in the chair, you should check that you have your knees bent at a 90 degree angle to the floor with your feet directly underneath. This helps to ensure that your weight is evenly distributed across both hips. If you are sitting in a workstation chair and your feet don’t reach the floor comfortably, you should invest in a floor stool that allows you to rest your feet on.

Next, you want to think about how your arms are supported. This is easier when looking at a desk set up. Your forearms should be touching the desk and the keyboard placed at a comfortable distance away from your body. You should not have to move your arms too much as you type.

By following these simple types, you can help to protect your back and keep tension from building up in your back from sitting down.
