As well as having lots of ancient sites to visit locally, the town of Maynooth itself also has plenty to offer, from places to eat and drink, to all the shops that you need like Vodafone Maynooth.

If you want to explore some of the nearby historical sites, here are a few to get you started…

Taghadoe – The round tower at Taghadoe is what remains of the original site that was a monastic settlement. The tower is now in ruins, but the area was still being used into the 18th Century where a church was built next to it. It is no longer in use, but it is definitely worth a wander around.

Hill of Tara – This site dates back to the iron age and was a place where the rulers of Ireland reigned. It was believed to be a special place, where gods could cross over to this world from theirs. It is a fantastic walk as well, as you can see for miles from the top on a clear day.
