Six types of knitwear that are ideal for layering

Knitwear is far more than something associated with your grandmother, as style and comfort are easily achievable with the right choice. One of the best ways to achieve an awesome look with knitwear is to layer it; however, this can be tricky to get right. With this in mind, let’s take a look at six different kinds of knitwear that are great to use for layering.

1. The V-neck sweater

The V-neck sweater is a staple in any wardrobe and is a great way to layer your knits in several different ways; for example, you can layer it over a simple vest or T-shirt in the warmer weather or a button-up shirt when it is colder. Start with neutral colours such as grey and navy for versatility.

2. The crew-neck sweater

Another classic, the crew-neck sweater is hugely versatile and can be paired with pretty much anything from scarves to thick jackets. Both normal and high crew-necked sweaters, which are available from stockists such as https://www.ejmenswear.com/men/ralph-lauren/knitwear, can be paired with lots of other options, so you can get creative with this one!

3. The cardigan

We all know the snug and comforting knit that is the cardigan. Beloved by all sorts of people, from Coco Chanel to Kurt Cobain, cardigans can be paired with vests and T-shirts for a summery look or with a turtleneck to provide some warmth in the winter. This is another great choice to experiment with.

4. The turtleneck

The turtleneck – or its little brothers, the mock neck and roll neck – can also be layered easily; for example, you can wear one under a denim or leather jacket to get that cool guy vibe.

5. The half-zip

For a sporty look, try layering with a half-zip sweater such as the mens Ralph Lauren knitwear half-zip. Half-zips combine well with vests/tank tops worn both under and over them.

6. The vest;/tank top

Of course, we have to mention the ever-popular vest/tank top. These can be paired with all sorts of options for formal occasions, such as a white button-up shirt, and for casual events and poorer weather conditions, such as a chunky knit.
